Happy Halloween

It’s Halloween

Sadly we don’t celebrate Halloween in Asia. No trick a treating (unless you want to be chased by a person holding a meat cleaver) , no  decorations of tombstones on the lawn, dangling skulls on doors, no witches and their cauldron on rooftops  absolutely nothing at all but then you get the younger generation getting all dolled up hanging round bars and clubs for this occasion.

In Asia, the Chinese (Buddhist. Taoist) celebrate The Hungry Ghost Festival. Celebrated on the 15th day of the of the 7th month of the lunar calendar (in which I’ve no clue) and on the 15th day, the realms of heaven and hell and the realm of the living are open, so the Taoist and the Buddhist monks will perform rituals to ease the sufferings of the deceased. The Hungry Ghost Fes is considered to be an inauspicious month. No wedding, nothing auspicious is supposed to be celebrated during this month.  People are advised not to stay out late for fear of running into a spirit also those who died without justice will come back and seek revenge on those that harm them, possession, yeah you name it

The only source of activities for the month is Ancestor Worship offerings of burning incense, ritualistic food, hell notes, paper Mache in forms of clothing, cars, houses e.t.c  so they can have a better life down there. During this month you’ll also find small stages erected to entertain the dead (Singing, dancing, Chinese Opera, Karaoke e.t.c). The 1st few rows of chairs are for the unseen guest and the rest for the living.

For this Halloween, I’m compiling some good scares..(My opinion). You don't necessary have to watch it during Halloween:}..I love horror flicks I do do do!!

October Favs

October is coming to an end....Yeah...meaning one more month till Christmas...Double Yeah...
So for my October favourites,I have 4 fav items, one fav colour and 1 pretty addictive song.
Starting with....

Pricing : For 400ml, the price is RM 38.90 and for 200ml = RM 18.90 (A lil steep on the wallet)
This Shampoo is Superb. It leaves your hair soft ,non-greasy & less hair loss. The smell is neutral, almost herbal not heavy scented like others.I have oily hair depending on my crazy hormones and my hubby's scalp is pretty sensitive.Another one of my fav's shampoo brand Himalaya .Love their hair care range & beauty range. They do make vitamins as well). All their items are pharmaceutical-grade ayurvedic products..Yep, all ye herbs.

I've stopped using commercial brands like L'oreal , Pantene, Sunsilk, Dove e.t.c ( Dove smells good, but it's the worst shampoo I've ever used. Causes major itchiness to the scalp, not to mention oily. Great for washing knickers though)I'm not a big fan of itchy, oily, hair loss type of shampoo. With all those new range coming up in the market with this and that blah blah use them once and hell,I don't intend on having a Mediterranean sea in the middle.

I got this lil fella from my September month Fabulous Finds beauty box .Jurlique's is an Australian brand and it's all ye natural (Plant extracts e.t.c).It's not oily unlike some moisturisers and you only need a wee bit to smother around your face.I see my blemish disappearing and I'm savouring every lil bit inside even going to the extreme of cutting the top and not wasting a bit. Will I purchase this product? sure why not. Price wise, RM 110 I think.

Guardian Pharmacy, your typical drug store. 100% Malaysian. Most drug store will carry their own Signature Line.Body Lotions,Hair Care Products,Face, you name it. Some people are sceptical when it comes to buying generic brands. Too cheap, it ain't going to do wonders on my skin, hair bla bla seriously not all expensive shit can do justice as well..
They were having a buy 2 free 1 and I like trying new products.I bought two bottles of Pomegranate Scrub and one Green tea spa.Ahhh!! the smell is heavenly. It's subtle to the skin unlike certain types which will turn your skin red after a scrub. I like it. Price : RM 5.80 a bottle.

Nutrimoist Complex

Yes, it's a bar of soap. It's the latest from May and it smells amazing. I'm a body wash and a soap user. I normally use soap in the mornings and body wash at nights ( Habit). This soap doesn't strip your skin off  its moisture and the scent is quite lasting (snifffss..). I know people say that soap strips off moisture and it causes dry skin. Okay, so that's your problem. My skin is relatively fine .Bars of 3 = RM 3.20..Ooo It's got Sea Salt:}.

Lavender is such a pretty colour.

Finally ....

Kyarya Pamyu Pamyu is a Japanese fashion blogger, a model and an establish business woman lauching a line of fake eyelashes called Harajuku Doll Eyelashes. Now she's a singer and her songs are exceptionally weird and umm eccentric, but I like it..Bah!!Fashion Monster is her new song and damn is one goood song. Gotta watch the videoclip!!

I keep Bleeding,keep keep staining...

When it comes to buying menstrual pad, seriously I should consider buying maternity pads or adult diapers. Seriously, whatever brand is on the shelves right now is not doing any justice when it comes to my YangTze flood.  All those gels and whatever high end material they use to insure you that it’s LeakGuard is simply bull poopie (that’s my opinion) and why izzit so friggin expensive when it’s not doing its Job?

Currently I’m using Kotex Maxi and supposedly the absorbency is better and its useful for the start of the menstruation cycle when menstruation is often the heaviest. I wear two for protection and I make sure my knickers are tight so it wouldn’t move too much, but  it ends up getting stained anyways. Although it’s only for the first 4 days, those 4 days irritates the hell outta me. With or without wings, it’s still the same. I’ve tried other brands.  Rashes are not cool and some are just hopeless.  I do not use tampons unless I’m doing outdoor activities, but I top up with extra protection.

Besides not being absorbent and expensive, what’s with the funky designs on sanitary pads? .Sometimes people come up with the stupidest ideas. Who the hell is going to look at your friggin pad unless you decide to prance around in your underwear in public, wash and use it as a wall deco, store it inside your first aid kit and use it just like a band-aid, Christmas ornaments, a cold compress cloth for when you’re sick or just plain “Honey wanna see my pad? Its got lovely patterns on it” arghhhh.

WTF??? Coloured Circles???

Another stupid idea from man is creating scented pads. Now seriously scented pads ...WTF???..Its stench is Dracula repellent already and to double the smell....seriously???.Aloe Vera pad infuse with menstrual blood, uhh  it ain’t going to make your vagina or blood smell Aloe Vera-ish. The smell might be seriously funky and it might kill living things around you unless you have a weird fetish for foul smells and getting yeast infection...Bah!!!

I don’t know, I don’t waste money on non-sensible items unless it’s anti-bacterial. So far there’s only one brand which absolutely works for me and wallet-friendly (Sanita), but finding that brand is like finding a needle in a haystack. The last time I saw that particular brand, I bought two whole big bags just like how a doomsday prepper would prep for the end of the world. The reason why this holy grail pad is awesome, its because of its excellent absorbency. I discovered Sanita from a warehouse sale and from then on it’s the brand I trust, but I just can’t buy if off the shelves but only available in specific stores..Sad:{

I Love A Good Bargain

Browse, browse, browse nothing like hunting for a good bargain on-line. FriendlyFashion is like the place to discover bargain buys. It's an online community where people sell their pre-loved items from bags,shoes,accessories,swap,give-away and also a place to jump start their business.I bought myself a make-up palette two months back  ( Post 13/10/2012)  and today I bought 3 items and I'm feeling ecstatic.

This is my favourite scent from Elizabeth Arden. I never got around buying it because it's expensive. It's an old scent from 1993 and  I guess I'm lucky to have come across this sellar selling the perfume for an amazing price of two bottles for RM 190. It's original as the sellar bought 3 in Melbourne airport duty-free as requested from friends/family,only they backed out in the end. So what can a girl do with 3 bottles?..Sell them of course. Including RM 8 for postage = RM 198

It's actually a Promotional Gift bag where you buy two Be Delicious fragrance and the bag will be yours for FREE, but I bought the bag for RM 60. Saw it,Loved it,Bought It :}. This girl also has an FB account where she sells original fragrances and bags.

Victoria Secret Fragrance Mist : Gorgeous..Bought from the same seller above. RM 60.
RM 60 (Bag) & Gorgeous RM 60 = 120+7 for postage =RM 127..

That's enough of buying for now. I seriously swear it's addictive.

YouTube & Movies

Thanks to YouTube and those awesome people who upload full length movies. I've been watching a lot of old Cantonese movies dating back from mid 80's to the late 90's. I grew up watching those old movies on Tv and in the Cinema ( rickety chairs, roach/rat infested, ground-nuts/sunflower shells on the floor, old musky smell reeking in the air and most probably haunted e.t.c) yeah those old school cinemas. Being a kid born in the 80's, life was so much simpler and cooler. Movies were good, 80's Music awesome unlike trash you hear on the radio, life was blissful....

Moving on......

  Mr Vampire 1 & 2. = A Comedy Horror Film. There's 3&4,but it's always the 1st movie which gives the impact.

Seriously, Stephen Chow looked so Good back then..I shall continue with 2&3.

Sweet Jesus,Mary and Joseph..Chow Yun Fatt looked soooooo Manly..Oh!his Manly Essence..

What else..Oh yes,

1) A Chinese Torture Chamber Story (Erotic comedy.WTF Exploding Penis???) = Stupid, but I do like how they use torture devices back in those days.:}
2) Lover of the Last Empress : If I'm not mistaken,it's based on the story of the Empress Dowager Cixi.
    I do love Chinese History.
3) Happy Ghost 1&2.I think I've watched this Movie uncountable times.

For my next viewing pleasure Korean:}..So many good Korean Movies on Youtube..Keeps a bored housewife like me Sane.

Mini Haul at Eastern Plaza Mall,Tawau

I went shopping a few weeks back to check out the only Mall here in Tawau (Eastern Plaza Mall). One word to describe the place "Tragic".Out of a 100 shops (I don't know how many shops are there) at least 20% of the shops are occupied and the rest is history. The mall is in a derelict stage. The car park is dark. If you were to die in the mall, they'll probably find your body after a few months.People still patronize this mall simply because there's a supermarket,a Cineplex on the 6th floor and a hotel which is built above the mall. The Promenade Hotel,a so called luxury hotel. So, you got yourself a luxury hotel above and a crap mall below...Wow!!..Whoever owns the mall should seriously pump some money on and do some serious renovation. It's a sight for sore eyes and I don't even know why it's called a Mall.Bah!!..Moving On...

I bought a few items. The items are relatively cheap considering that you have a few other stalls which sells the same items and who has the best advert wins them all.

Obviously Nail Polish since I collect nail polish.RM 2-3.90.
Hair Clips for my bangs. Never liked my hair eating my face. Rm 3.00
Skull Bracelet : RM 5.
Resin Rings : RM 2

Puffy stickers for RM 1..

Finally

Gorgeous gold studded hobo bag..It's a velvety material. I try to stay away from PVC. It tends to tear at the sides where the straps are. I need a sturdy bag to carry my things.
This bag is RM 49.90 and the best part is it's a Buy 1 Free I item which means I get to pick another bag for the same price or lower..So I picked...

Same material, except for the smaller silvery studs .Currently using this bag at the moment..Love it

Book Review : Eat,Pray,Love and Sweet Offerings

Author : Elizabeth Gilbert
Pages : 352 p
Rating : 4/10

Synopsis : One woman's search for everything across Italy,India and Bali (Indonesia). The story revolves around 32 year old Elizabeth Gilbert, educated, a successful writer, had herself a wonderful home and a loving husband. However, she was unhappy in her marriage and often spent time sleeping on her bathroom floor. She soon separates from her husband and initiating a divorce.Soon she embarks on a rebound relationship which continued for sometime but did not work out leaving her devastated and alone.

She soon embarks on a journey after writing an article on yoga in bali, Gilbert met a 9th generation medicine men (Ketut Liyar) who told her to she would come back one day and study with him. After finalizing her bitter divorce, Gilbert embarks on her long journey,a trip paid for in advance from a book deal by her publisher.

She spends 4 months in Italy enjoying life and eating  (Eat) , 3 months in India finding her spirituality  (Pray) and ends up in Bali,Indonesia (Love) where she finds love.

My Review : I spent nearly 2 two months completing this book. Not because it was hard to read but because I find it boring. I seriously don't know what made it a no1 best-seller.If I wanted to read a book like this,I'll just head on over to a Christian Book store and buy me a book, probably even much better.I finished it by the way,I just had to.Never touching this book ever. Even the movie Sucked aswell..Urghh

Author : Chan Ling Yap
Pages : 345
Rating : 8.5/10

Synopsis : Set between the late 1930's and 1960's, this is the tale of Mei Yin, a young Chinese girl from an impoverished family. Her destiny is shaped when she is sent to Kuala Lumpur to become the ward and the companion of the tyrannical and bitter Su Hei who is looking for a suitable wife for her son Ming Kong.. and ultimately a grandson and hair to the family dynasty.

My review : I enjoyed this book very much. I enjoyed the history bits. The Japanese conquered Bristish ruled Malaya and Singapore from 1941-1945.The Brits ran off like headless chickens leaving the people of Malaya to fend for themselves. During the occupation an estimated of 100,000 people were killed. The Kempeitais (Military Police Corps of the Imperial Japanese Army) had a deep hatred for The Chinese.Women, children, young or old were not spared. During the occupation, resistance movement were formed like MPAJA (Malayan People Anti-Japanese Army) and MCP (Malayan Communist Party:Mostly Chinese)..There were traitors  in these resistance groups to pint point who's who and the punishment is cruel.Life back then was hell. People starving, illnesses, living in fear e.t.c. (Just a tad bit history)
About this book: Only 14,Mei Yin was sent to KL to be groomed as a bride when she turned 18 for Ming Kong. She comes from a poor family. She wanted education, but her family couldn't afford to send her to school,so KL was the only option for her as she was promised an education and later on a bride.
Su Hei - She's the 2nd wife of a wealthy businessman. She gave birth to MingKong, the only male heir but was raised by the 1st wife as her own son, hence the bitterness of Su Hei...There's also Nelly,Ming Kong's Girlfriend who has a dark past. Each character has their own story. It's a good book overall.

Unboxing Beauty Boxes with Fabulous Finds & Vanity Trove

Beauty products, what do I know about beauty product. On the scale of 1-10, I give myself 3.I’m pretty much daft in the head when it comes to beauty items. I do not paint my face with Nippon colours like most women do. It is not a colouring book. What I merely use is just black eyeliner and lip gloss. If I feel like dolling up, its just eye shadow (It’s either I use my finger or those lil sponge given applicator) and a touch of lipstick. I do not own any blushers, concealers, mascaras, foundation, bronzers, bla bla ..(I had to ask my GF what a bronzer is) and just recently my BFF told me about eye primers (If you want your eye-shadow to last, apply some eye primer. I shall buy me an eye primer).

As for skincare, just cleanser and I’m done. I do use facial scrub and peel off mask whenever I feel the need to.A normal routine would be cleanser, tone and moisturize. It’s a long process. I happen to save a lot of money on beauty items and if I require any items, there’s always mum.

Cutting the long story short, I was fascinated with beauty boxes after I stumbled upon a local you-tuber’s vid and she was happily showing off her Vanity Trove August box. I didn’t know such box existed in Asia (Singapore). You get Glambox, Birchbox, Back to School Box, whatever beauty boxes out there, but that’s only overseas. Okay! so I’m a little outdated (WTH) I checked out Vanity Trove’s website and I subbed. I found Fabulous Finds from a beauty guru’s blog (I don’t remember her url), liked it,subbed as well. Fabulous Finds is 100% homegrown.
